9- Déréliction

They’ll catch me up, no, I don’t want to be found… To flee! As far as I can!

Kasumi, breathless, was running madly, but it was vital: all of her friends had lost confidence in her behaviour… She condemned herself and couldn’t move back.
She finally stopped in a glade, at the foot of an altar destined for protecting travellers and she decided to set up in this place.
It was the first time she’ll camp out alone and the night promised to be cool… And I left without taking anything, how fool I am!

- She’ll come back! She just wants to brag! Satoshi was sure.
- I’m not that sure…
- Denchu is right, it’s not about her strong temper… Kasumi is really worried about what will happen, Takeshi answered.
- Pfff, she is a coward, that’s all! She always blames me about my behaviour, and I didn’t collapse! Satoshi retorted.

Deshi, who didn’t say a word since Kasumi’s departure – because she felt guilty of her escape – turned down toward Satoshi:

- Who are you to dare to speak of Kasumi like that?! Have you even considered her for her true worth since all that time?!
- I… err; it’s not what I meant… Satoshi mumbled.
- But that’s what you said… Denchu added.
- Well, don’t worry; she’ll most probably come back. She just needs to be alone. I’m going to prepare cook for everybody.
- … I’m not hungry, Satoshi said, head-hanging before climbing up stairs to find the calm of his bedroom.

Deshi knew that Satoshi was hurt by her word and that he thought about it. That’s why she asked everybody not to disturb him.

Kasumi lied down on the grass and watch at the stars which shined from a same crystal sparkle. Bit by bit, this light dazzled her and turned into a white veil which transported her. Kasumi couldn’t control her movement and she let her dream guide her. She saw a succession of field and dale and was carried to an enchanted forest where pixies and other creatures where living in perfect harmony. The young lady wanted to join them, but she soon realized that she only was spectator of the scene when a pixy flew in her way and went through her without noticing anything. But the forest turned into a disaster area, a ground burned because of a devastating fire and all form of life disappeared.
A pixy with broken wings was running to her, but she was caught up by a man with evil manners, assisted by an immobile army. His blond hair felt on her naked shoulds, and two locks which framed his face was as red as his eyes. He was holding the frail and delicate pixy by her neck, but no matter how hard she tried to struggle, his hold was too strong for her. Suddenly, the eyes of the man took the same reddening shade as rubies and the pixy smouldered until being dust.

Kasumi hold back a scream: everything seemed to be so real; however she was unknown from this world. All of a sudden, a blue pixy with blue hair came nearer and clasped him in an energy bubble with all of his sidekcicks, what made them disappeared.
Other pixies came closer to the leader.

- Matai, we could avoid their traps, but we have to start again what we’ve done, and we were inflicted by lot of losses.
- It will take us time, but we will beat them, no matter how hard we’ll fight!

Everything turned white and then Kasumi was pulled back and got out this unrealistic world as fast as she entered it.

- Satoshi, dinner’s ready! I won’t say it again! Takeshi belted out.
- Leave him alone, he’ll eat later, Toya answered calmly
- Yeah, but that’s not a dining hall, here… Takeshi mumbled.

Suddenly, they heard a thud upstairs and a sound of a broken window.

- Come on!! He wants to kill me!

Takeshi jumped up and climb bat out of hell the stairs that leaded to Satoshi’s bedroom:

- We have another problem… He was upset while entering the room.

Both windows were banging because of the wind. Some breakages of the pane were on the ground. Satoshi was gone.

When Kasumi woke up, she suffocated because of a heavy atmosphere. She wanted to get away from this place, but it was impossible for her to move. All of a sudden, she saw a laser beam from the wood which touched what stifled her. But it only harassed the henchman who was sucking Kasumi’s energy up: he sent back Supreme’s powerful attack and add his negative energy.

Supreme, weakened, couldn’t avoid the monster attack and was shot full whip. The hit was so violent that he was pushed into the wood and Kasumi didn’t see what happened.
Always captive from the creature, Kasumi didn’t feel any asphyxia. What worried her the most was Supreme state. She didn’t find him as she tried to look toward the wood and she felt anger aroused.
She managed to deliver and maked up to beat the monster. Water which surrounded her during his transformation calmed down her suffocation and cooled her ardour.

The creature decided to pursue its road while Kasumi was transforming and she was already far when Ocean threw her attack.
The Soldier didn’t know what to do: to help Supreme, where she didn’t know where he was shot, or to pursue the creature which destructed everything on its way.
Sorry Supreme, but the others might be close to come and save you!

- So?! Earth got impatient.
- Wait a sec, I’m coming! So, he used his attack, but I don’t know where he is right now… Psy answered.
- Well, shall we go? Where did he use his last attack? Thunder asked.
- Near to the spirit glade! Psy exclaimed.

Everyone leaped to their feet and leave the house, leaving the meal cooling down – what was a pain for Fire – but without forgetting to switch off the lights.

They found without any difficulties the glade and saw Satoshi lying in a corner, far away from the place.

- SUPREME?! Eath called, running toward him.
- Mmmh… please don’t cryyyyy! Satoshi groaned.
- As usual! Earth announced, relieved.
- Can’t… can’t stand up… my lef…
- Ok, don’t move!

Earth picked him up with caution and placed him on his shoulders to prevent him from any shocks.

- Ocean… She is in danger! Supreme murmured to Earth.
- Where is she? Fire became alarmed.
- She… she came after the devil, by this way… I have a headache, too!
- We will watch this after. For the moment, the most important thing is to find Ocean! Earth advertised.

They spotted the wet grass and followed Psy’s sensations to finally find the evil: a giant with red scales, pierced in some part of his body by numerous horns. However, something as missing: Ocean
Fire created a fire circle around the monster to slow his progression – what was useless in fact – and Thunder concentrated her attack on the monster face, but he avoided it ridiculously easy thanks to his six arms. Face to those impudent who prevented him to destruct the world, the monster decided to change his direction.
Earth slowly put Satoshi down near a trunk and came back to the devil, blocking his road thanks to his seismic attack: the devil, disarmed, felt in a thud, but he wasn’t finished.

Satoshi, who was watching at the scene as well as he could, noticed a thing:

- It’s not the monster which attacked Ocean!

The warriors didn’t hear Satoshi’s comment: they were too busy to get rid of the fire attack of the enemy.
Psy tried to block as much as he can, his attack strength by throwing psychic wave, but the devil soon understood were the resistance came from and decided to cut it out: he threw a fire discharge Psy couldn’t avoid if Fire didn’t rush on him to take the shock instead of him…
Lied on the warrior, she was in pain to pick up. Psy, surprised by the rapidity of the action, took Fire on her shoulder:

- What the hell were you thinking?! He yelled at her.
- I… I thought that it wouldn’t hurt me because it’s fire… Fire whispered, eyes full of sorrow tears.
- You’re so… unthinking… Psy murmured while he hugged her softly.

Fire’s burns was so intense that she couldn’t enter the battle, implying that it reduced the strength of the team against a big enemy.
Psy put Fire in a safe place, but he couldn’t focus on the battle knowing her hurt, what got him to receive a blow that knocked him out.
The only remaining to finish him off, were Thunder and Earth what seemed to be hopeless. As the attacks were failing, the creature took advantage of the situation: the thunder didn’t bother him and Earth discharges were simple to avoid.

- ICE FOAM!!!

An icy water gust broke on the devil who were held prisoner by the ice. Earth and Thunder turned back where the water came from and where surprised to see Ocean.

- We only waited for you! Thunder teased.
- Sorry for taking that long, I was busy with another one… Ocean answered lifting her head up.
- Earth, finish him! Psy said.

Earth gave him a phenomenal final blow in the ice block that faced him, making fly numerous little shining icy sparkles, harmonising with the starry sky.

- The stars…

Ocean was quickly thinking about her night when they approached Satoshi and Fire. Psy was already busy with his “burny girl” – Stop calling me like this! Fire grunted – so Ocean decided to stop by Satoshi.

- I thank you for coming to save me… She said, staring at her.
- Oh, I… It was normal… When I saw this blue light, I figured you were in trouble! Satoshi mumbled, looking at his foot and blushing.

Ocean gave a kiss on his forehead before joining Fire to calm down her burns with her cool hands.

- Your element affects you: the sea always goes away but come back with strength. She decides who to spare… Fire said.
- What do you mean?
- We all thank you for saving us, the young lady punctuated.
- I’m the one who apologize for leaving like this… Ocean answered weakly, avoiding her look.

Earth, Thunder and Satoshi, after consulting each other, went to Ocean and asked her what was the origin of such a beam of light…

- I didn’t even know I was the origin of the light, but here is what I can say: when I get to the glade, I made a strange dream… No, in fact the sky sucked me up when I was watching the stars, to another world, surprising, full of pixies and evil creatures.

On the way back, Ocean tried to explain as well as she could – without trying to place logic or order into her thoughts – the story she saw in her “traveller dream”, and explained that the creatures who accompanied the man who killed the pixy looked like the one they destroyed.

- Well at first time, I thought I found logical explanation to all of this… Until you tell the pixy thing… I must admit that you broke my thoughts! Psy blowed, with Fire on his shoulder.
- Maybe Ocean went to a Zelda alternate universe… I would say Majora’s Mask! Satoshi concluded, on Earth’s shoulders.
- Go back to sleep, Satoshi! Thunder advised.
- No, I would say that it’s the spirit altar let appeared a monster spirit thanks to your energy… Concerning the pixies, well, you were certainly dreaming! Earth concluded.
- I had almost the same explanation! Psy added.
- And if you stopped to find an explanation where there isn’t? You think that devil apparition is common? Fire bawled.
- You, the disable one, just shu…

Psy didn’t have time to end his sentence when he saw the boarding-school lights on, and he wasn’t the only one to be surprised: from where they were, they all could see the door wide open and the sofa into a window…

- Who last left and didn’t lock the door?

Never ever the community saw such a mess in the boarding-school. Everything was topsy-turvy: furniture were all overturned, the dishes was wracked, part of the windows were broken and electricity blew when they tried to switch on.

- That can’t be… Thunder groused.
- Kaho will kill us! Fire feared the worst.
- Well, yeah! We will need at least a day to put everything in place, Psy noticed.

Earth let Satoshi on the only sofa which was in good condition – in manner of speaking – and informed his fellow.

- I’ll check upstairs if everything is in the same state…
- There isn’t light, Thunder reminded.
- It won’t prevent me for checking if everything is calm, Earth answered back, walking to the stairs.

A noise from upstairs suddenly rose. The group was silent and picked up their ears. Something was moving into the bedrooms. Thunder passed before Earth.

- It’s dark upstairs, you’ll see nothing, I go first! She decided
- What if it was a demon? The young man said, trying to stop her.
- Listen, Satoshi isn’t in good shape, Fire is kind of banged up, Psy has a headache and neither Ocean nor you are able to create a light:! Who else do you see? Thunder got impatient.

Earth let her pass reluctantly but decided to follow her. Once they arrived upstairs, Thunder gathered the electrical energy in a little sphere to emulate a torch. As she got nearer to her bedroom, she could hear worrying rales. Earth, who stood back, saw the flashlight switch off.

- KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!
- THUNDER!!

Thunder went through the bedroom wall and fell with a crash on the other wall. The thing that attacked her yelled and turned back to Earth, who only saw his four red eyes in the dark.
Downstairs, Fire got back on her feet and run at the stairs until Psy stopped her.

- What the hell are you doing?
- Didn’t you hear? Thunder screamed, she is in danger!
- And what are you thinking? You’re still…
- Don’t you tell me that I’m weak!! Fire vociferated.

Psy let her go, aware that any argument won’t make it. He decided then to stay near to his “burny girl”, followed by Ocean.
When she got upstairs, Fire let appeared two flames on her fists, as useful to light the room as to fight. Earth managed to catch up with Thunder and tried his best to move the thing away from Thunder body. Fire then threw two fire sprays on the monster so that he could change prey and with hope that it would weaken him a few. The monster didn’t seem to feel a thing but he turned his head toward his assailants: he had a long tail he used to scare them off.
The floor was now in piece and fragments of furniture decorated the room of Fire and Thunder. Earth determined to quit Thunder to help Fire and Psy who both got ejected to the corridor where the others were concentrated.
When Thunder recovered her thoughts, she got away from the broken chest – in which Fire and her put all of her swimming-suits and underwear – and throw from this spot a gust of sparks on the demon who received it right in the eyes.

Blind, this one didn’t weaken: as he couldn’t see anymore, the monster tried to punch everywhere and off-loading his anger onto the walls he destroyed with pleasure.
Nothing could stop him: each attack sent against him excited him more and more, and it was now stones – from the walls – he threw everywhere.
Then the monster stopped to open a damaged eye, trying to see his victims hide as they could… It was the last thing he saw:

- CELESTIAL BEAM!!!!

Because he lost his attention to see the suffer he engendered, the monster was subjected to Supreme divine anger: the beam pierced the devil – who pounced on Fire in a last attempt – and disintegrated him.
Supreme, exhausted by such release of power, fell on the ground.

- Everything is completely destroyed… Kasumi was upset and immediately sat down near Satoshi to help him get off the ground.
- It’s amazing they found the boarding-school. We cant’ feel secure here! Takeshi interfered.
- We’ve always been safe here and it’s not gonna change! Denchu reproached him.
- But have you seen what happened to the house? And what happened to you?
- Today was somehow exceptional. Those monsters won’t ever come back because we kill them all.
- Are you sure about that, Deshi? Takeshi asked.
- They didn’t act the same way the others devils did: the city is exactly at the opposite of our home and they attacked during the night. I’m sure they didn’t look for the Monarchs nor for vital power. If they came here, it’s most certainly because they felt a strong power emanating from this place – Kaho’s power – and they wanted to use it to came back to their world. Deshi answered, turning back toward Kaho who was walking softly.
- Good deduction, Deshi, Kaho smiled. Indeed, the monster came here when I tried to enter in contact with you not seeing you coming back here at that time of the night. Deshi thought carefully talking about those monsters: they don’t come from here. If you tell me the whole story, I’m sure to conclude in this way: you let those monsters appear in our world where they don’t belong, and they only longed for coming back to their world – after satisfying their destruction needs – Kaho explained looking to the damages caused by only one demon.
- And what is the subject of your visit? Deshi asked.
- I just came to meet with you about our monthly briefing you hear carefully, Deshi, Kaho was ironic, and to tell you that your pocket money will increase!

The team couldn’t suppress their joy, but Kaho balanced:

- … And you’ll spend it in new furniture…

Her pupil joy waned right away and let place to a collective sigh.

- By the way, good luck to sleep this night… In three days, it’s Friday and you can tidy the house, but tonight, take a rest!

Everyone looked at the second floor. Only two rooms weren’t destroyed: Satoshi’s bedroom and Toya and Takeshi’s one.
